I have the same question as Oliver:
“does the solution need to be applied exactly at the location or can general topical application be enough”
Would be great to hear your assessement on this subject.

I am from the medical community and appreciate your in depth analysis of the topic. This is what I can take away from this article (with a few uncertain points)

– the liposomal solution could possibly help reduce system absorption, by good values are yet to be determined. Meaning 0.005% with liposomes could possibly not be effective.

– does the solution need to be applied exactly at the location or can general topical application be enough.

– does finasteride require to be metabolized by the liver for it to be effective.

Regards,

Oliver

I’ve used topical Finasteride 0.1% w/v with 5% minoxidil and definitely saved myself from hair loss and improved my hair growth. I’ve been using it for around 3 years I guess and wasn’t encountering any side effects until last year I suddenly found that my AST and ALT levels were alarmingly high. On getting some checkups I found that the liver looked fine with no stiffness and only some grade 1 fat buildup (fatty liver) which confused the doctors. I recently stumbled upon some research that blocking 5 alpha reductase induces NASH in your liver.
“Health Risks Associated with Long-Term Finasteride and Dutasteride Use: It’s Time to Sound the Alarm by Dr. Abdul Maged Traish”, and others as well have seen such effects. Also I had started feeling more depressed and a significant downfall in my cognitive ability which are all linked to use of Finasteride but I saw no significant sexual side effects.
I was using a dosage of 1ml or .75ml every night but I’ve stopped using it for almost a over month now. Probably the Finasteride was suppressing the hormone in the blood serum as mentioned by you. I would request you to have a look at the research and also I wanted to know that what can I do to find out the amount of Finasteride dosage that I can use to suppress it in my scalp only because if that is achievable then I can keep my hair sustainable for a longer period of time. You should definitely check it out because this can be groundbreaking.

First of all, I ask for your understanding of my poor English.

I am Asian, and I am always impressed by your excellent analysis, and I read your writing with gratitude.
When I saw this article, I had a question.
In your opinion, does the topical finasteride work only on the area where it is applied?
For example, can the topical finasteride on my crown make my sides and back hair grow?
If so, is it different from systemic absorption?

My English is terrible, but I hope you can understand the purpose of my question.
I’m always grateful to you.

Best regards
WK
