I’m trying to do the same thing after watching a video about Tom Hagerty scalp exercises, but I notice that my scalp (using my hairline as a reference), does not budge a mm. If anything, with great effort, my hair line gets pulled backwards about 1mm (I presume from my occipitalis).

I have been kneading and pressing my scalp for two years, and I feel I have very good laxity. However, I have not regrown hair noticeably, which seems to be evenly thinning from front to top.

What I want to know is, are there any studies on exercising the frontalis and occipitalis muscles to regrow hair? If they can be trained at all (because I can’t pull my scalp forward by contracting my frontalis, no matter how hard i tried over the last 2 weeks)

First of all how the scalp tension formed in men & women who were diagnosed with AGA . And another question is why dht is formed excessively in some men when they experience scalp tension their dht in their body acts as anti – inflammatory and causes fibrosis and finally hair loss. (OR) if someone have scalp tension formed but they don’t produce excess dht will they don’t experience hair loss.

The mouth opens during sleep apnea. The angle of the mouth creates a more taut scalp. Opening the nasal passages before sleeping can be a good solution.

I wore a backwards hat (to help my hair flow) for 9-10 months for 8-9 hours a day and my hair has seemed to thinned out (diffuse thinning). My family has no history of early baldness ( I am in my early twenties) and my hair was very thick almost less than a year ago.

I have been having AGA for the past five years which gradually shrink my hair follicles and it’s also making my hair to be more tinnier as time goes on, so I was so worried about my hairlooss getting tinnier day by day so one day I stumbled on an article regarding hairlooss explaining how tension of scalp is the main cause of hair loss by restricting blood to flow to the top scalp, well I couldn’t believe on their article by saying tightness of scalp is the main cause for hairlooss.

So one day I was so angry and upset thinking that I would finally be complete bald as time goes on, I was so worried to the extent that I carried out an experiment on my scalp to find out maybe what was written in the article I read online concerning hairlooss related to tighning of scalp is true or a big lie guess what? When I carried out the experiment it was 200% true I swear to God with my life.

Here is the experiment I carried out, I find a piece of cloth that’s not stretchable that’s very long making it similar to head band, but it not an head band though, am just trying to mention what is similar to what I made for to understand me clearly, another example is if you have watch a movie called Rambo, am referring to the actor who always tie a cloth round his head, if you have watch the movie and seen the actor that exactly what I made for myself looks like, so I tie the cloth on my head, but before I did I squeezed my scalp ontop of my head together and tie the cloth on my head.

By not making the muscle I pulled up from the side of the scalp to escape down, so ontop of my scalp looks squeezed together because the side muscle never escape to pull down my scalp by causing tension all because I used a cloth to round tight my head like Rambo.

So I tie the cloth on my head for 4 hours in broad daylight to make blood flow to my scalp, I remove it after 4 hours, after when is in the night by 11pm I tie the cloth again and leave it till the next day. I did this for only 3 month I swear to God I recovered 70% of my hair back and thicker than how it was just in 3 month, when I decided to just try and stop it for two months so see what gonna happen I noticed I started shedding hair and start to discover some thin hair back again

So in a nutshell you’re more than right about your hair loss research am a living testimony, scalp tightness by the cause of muscle pulling tension is 100% cause of hair loss.

Hey Ross,

Finasteride and dutasteride are both effective at reducing DHT levels. The former inhibits type I 5-alpha reductase, while the latter inhibits both type I and type II 5-alpha reductase, and can thereby achieve greater DHT suppression (and potentially better hair loss outcomes, according to the latest meta-analyses).

At the same time, dutasteride may also come with some limitations. For instance, it seems to decrease insulin sensitivity in mouse models, whereas finasteride doesn’t. Most people handle these drugs with zero issues, and with great results. But choosing the right one really depends on someone’s needs, preferences, risk factors, concomitant medications, etc.

It’s from an article about scalp and neck muscle tightness due to stress.
So perhaps it’s not souch muscles getting tighter as opposed to them actually shrinking and pulling tight as a result.

”People in tense, sedentary jobs are particularly prone to a chronic shortening of the muscles,” said Steven Wolf, associate professor in the department of physical and rehabilitative medicine at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta.

”Without even realizing it, they hold their bodies in a tense, alert pose day after day,” said Mr. Wolf, who is both a physical therapist and a neurophysiologist. ”The buildup continues each day as the tensions repeat. As time goes on, their neck and shoulder muscles get shorter and shorter.”
